My last few cards I've been using a lot of Distress Inks. This card is no exception, although I kept it to only two colors this time- Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry. Two very bright pinks!
For my card background I stamped hearts in a pattern across the white cardstock. Then, I cut a panel with my Cricut and blended the two Distress Ink colors on that to make it perfectly pink. I adhered the panel to the front, using a little craft foam on the back to give it some dimension. Then (I wish you could see from the picture), I spritzed the pink panel with some Tsukineko's Sparkle Shimmer Mist. It gives it just the right amount of glitz. Then, I used my Cricut again to cut a little scalloped circle which I adhered a fussy-cut and colored cupcake to. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink and adhered it with foam squares. I used Simon Says Stamp's "It's Your Birthday!" stamp set. Lastly, I added a little Glossy Accents to the candle flame and a few tiny pearl beads for embellishment. I think they look like little sprinkles. And that's it! I can think of a few little girls I'd love to send this card to. :) I'm linking this card up to Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge Blog!

I'm linking up with Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge today!!
The challenge is to create something using your favorite technique. Now, I have WAY too many favorites to choose from, but I'm loving the new Distress Inks that my hubby gave me for Christmas! This card has some very simple blending on the bottom with a few splatter marks. Its simple, but I absolutely love this Peacock Feathers color! The sentiment was embossed with white powder, and the top wood-grain design was stamped. Another favorite technique of mine is die-cutting. The scalloped edge is die cut, as well as the flower and butterfly. If you hadn't already noticed, the flower is also inked with Distress Inks, and the center has a touch of Glossy Accents on it. So, there you have it! A simple card for today's challenge, yet I love how the bright colors all pop together. Thanks for stopping by!! Happy Wednesday! |
