I guess my pants are on fire today. I lied. I know I posted yesterday that you wouldn't be seeing any new cards for a while. Well, I saw the challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp and I had the perfect card for it. This is a card that I made a while ago but never posted, because I was sending it to someone and didn't want to spoil the surprise. Well, since they have the card now, I guess I'm safe to share! The challenge today is vacations/travel. Growing up, our family vacations were always camping. I haven't gone camping in such a long time now, but I have fond memories of it. Sleeping in a tent, roasting hot dogs, s'mores, and pudgie pies. Did anyone else ever do pudgie pies or was that just a thing my family did? We had these awesome pie-maker things that you put a slice of bread in, then add some canned pie filling, and top it with another slice of bread. You close it up and put it in the fire till its all toasty on the outside, and warm and gooey on the inside. Delicious! Anyway, Im getting off track. This is supposed to be about the card, not food. I started with scoring the background, and then dragging two different shades of brown down the front to create this woodgrain background. Super simple, and it looks great! Then, I stamped the camping image with dark brown in on a kraft cardstock to get a tone-on-tone look. I added some dash lines with my white gel pen for some detail. The letters for "take a" were cut with my Cricut. The "Hike" letters were stamped and embossed in brown. I wanted to keep everything in brown tones. I arranged everything very square. After getting the camping image and the "Take a Hike" adhered on, the right side seemed like it needed something so I added three metal eyelets. Then, just for one pop of color against the brown I stamped a little red heart, adhered it down, and also added a twine knot for some texture. Its pretty simple, and it works. Although, looking at it makes me want to go camping! Also, I found a link to the pudgie-pie makers we used to use: Amazon doesn't call them pudgie-pie makers, so I don't know where that name came from, but I'm sticking with it.

This is awesome! I love the woodgrain you created. So clever and it looks so real. Great color scheme and the little heart adds the perfect touch of color to the card. Thank you so much for joining us at the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Blog. :)
