Let it snow, let it snow... just not here! Who has snow where they live? We had a dusting of it but it pretty much melted. Im not too sad. Growing up in Wisconsin I have had my fair share of snow. Sure it looks pretty for Christmas, but driving in it is one of my least favorite things. I do adore snowmen, however. Like this cute guy from Inkadinkado's Ornate Christmas stamp set. First, I stamped him out in VersaMark ink with some Memento black over the top. Then, I added some clear embossing powder. This is a favorite trick of mine to use when I want to emboss in a color that I don't have a powder for. The sentiment is also stamped in Memento black ink.
For his red scarf, I took a watercolor pencil and brushed on some color. Then, for the background, I stamped a polka-dot background stamp in VersaMark ink, and then used a paint brush to apply some Pearl Ex powder. I found this Pearl Ex at a thrift store recently and picked it up to play with. I think it is similar to Perfect Pearls, but since I've never used those, either, I can't make a fair comparison. The powder I used came out lovely! It really adds a shimmer that I wish my camera could capture. To finish the card I tied a coordinating ribbon around in and then adhered the whole front panel to the background. Then, as a last touch, I added some stickles to a few spots on the snowman. Its a very simple card but I love the end result. If you would like to see the whole set of stamps from Inkadinkado, check out my Amazon store! Also, this card is being linked to Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge.
